[Geotags.org] [Emad Fanous] Using DNS to attach Websites to Local Search: A long time ago, when I was still at Citysearch, I had suggested that we somehow attain access to DNS records (either as a registrar or by partnering with someone who could provide us the data). This was long before Google had become a registrar.

all in the <head> ” ponderings and code by drew mclellan: You have to sign up for an API key (which is tied to the URL you’ll be developing from, but you can grab as many keys for as many URLs as you need), and Google give you a sample HTML document and a comprehensive API reference to work with. If you’re comfortable with DOM Scripting, it really is child’s play to get the map centred where you need it and plot some points. (via Cosmos)

Stella Knits 2: I had called one more place - Nob Hill Cat Clinic - to ask if I could see their facilities early afternoon. But I had given up all hope. Even though the receptionist sounded so friendly, so no problem, I couldn’t believe it. I went there, expecting another sad cat jail. I walked in, and there were air purifiers everywhere. I could breathe! The vibe was so completely different from my vet. I felt welcome and relaxed. I heard the receptionist tell another client about boarding, and that they play with the cats and give them attention. I started to feel better. By the time I saw the cages, at least I was prepared! They had 8 cages right in their office area, so the cats experience socialization. Some of the were sleeping, some watching, the vibe was caring and friendly. They had one of those big bulletin boards where everyone sent pictures of their kitties. They also said they had other, larger cages where the cats can jump up on a shelf, but I couldn’t go there because they were treating a feral cat. Okay. (via Cosmos)
